About
I am a botanical artist and a human geneticist based in the Czech Republic. Although my professional career has been devoted to human genetics, plants and the natural world have always been an important part of my life.
I studied botanical illustration at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where I completed the Diploma in Botanical Illustration with Distinction.
My scientific background has influenced the way I observe and interpret natural forms. I am particularly interested in the diversity of plants, their adaptations to different environments, and the small structural details that make each species distinctive.
Much of my work is inspired by plants encountered during travels and field excursions, from Central European forests and meadows to mountain habitats in Asia and other parts of the world. Whenever possible, I work from living specimens, supported by field sketches and photographs.
I work primarily with coloured pencils, graphite, watercolour and ink, seeking a balance between botanical accuracy and the individual character of each plant.
